Bacterial infections are one of the main challenges that our rapidly developing and growing society will face in the upcoming years. The pipeline for new antibiotic development is drying up, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is rising to unprecedented levels. Predictions on deaths attributed to or caused by AMR paint a worrisome picture that cannot be ignored [1]. In response, several initiatives have been launched, from improving current diagnostics to designing new treatments. Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently at the forefront of drug discovery efforts across several diseases.
