In our game of Santa Fe, Billings became the second only to San Fransisco in terms of high value cities. Come for the sunflowers, stay for the trains!
On North Stoughton Road, the state lowers the speed limit to 45 mph at signals...so why keep 55 mph on south stoughton road? At intersections which are the most dangerous in the city?
This is insane!
Next...is 55mph really the soeed limit here? 1 mile between signals...the fact that there are signals alone should eliminate anything over 45 mph due to the MUTCDs yellow change interval guidance.
The most obvious, but hardest to change is the use of frontage/access roads. These things flat out suck. They suck for intersection operation, user clarity, ped/bikes, and use land poorly.
But to fix them would be a massive ordeal to shift streets and buildings around.
I love good bike detection!

Good morning bus
The SW commuter path is 760 ft away from Regent Street (51"). At 25 mph, a similar oarallel route for drivers would be about 1,800 ft away.
If parallel routes becomes an issue for bike facilities, answering the question of how far is too far and what makes a good parallel route is necessary.
I used Stoughton Road to get to McFarland yesterday (i rarely ever need to use it) and couldnt help notice how dumb the whole thing is and maybe why its got some of the worst intersections in the city.
The Cap city path is a few hundred feet away along Ohio Street from Atwood, and has an off street bike connection with wayfinding, and an RRFB crossing.
But that distance is 640 ft at Corry St.
Two very different levels of usefulness.
