I would never go on grokpedia in a million years but would have no idea GPT used it to generate an answer and it might lie to me if I ask it about its sources. 2/2
Problem is that it is extremely hard to get funding for cross species cognition and comparison of neural circuits across species emphasizing both similarities AND differences. Funding agencies incentivize "model system = human" claims and reviewers often hate on work in different model system.
That is great to hear! We are trying to do some cross species work in collaboration with rodent and NHP collaborators who already do cross species anatomical comparisons, but compared to comparative anatomy lab and ecological task behavioural mapping of differences seems in his infancy!
I hope you will soon add the culturally appropriate gestures as well 🤌 (apologies if this isn't the correct gesture, but as a german I was deconditioned regarding gestures for obvious reasons )
I hope your book is being read like a 90's Action movie trailer!
PS: Now I will forevermore hear an italian accent when reading your papers.
Grants that include human and animal work rarely get funded as research communities working in different systems drift apart. Reviewers are focused on critizing the weaknesses of other model systems, rather than harnessing the potential in comparing capacities and systems and link to species niches.
Out in the UK today! press.princeton.edu/books/hardco...
Our book is officially out and there is even an audiobook version! Unfortunately, it’s not narrated by us, so you’ll miss out on our lovely Italian/French accents (a tragic loss for audiobook history).
Apparently, Amazon.fr has only three copies left: THANK YOU!
