Immigrant advocates and state officials praised a federal judge’s decision to strike down Trump administration policies that targeted immigrants from 39 African, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern countries — and vowed to continue to fight.
Advocates say Amos’ death is the latest in a troubling series of deaths of people in custody in recent years.
So far this year, three people have died while in the custody of the Department of Corrections, according to the department.

The House and Senate also passed three bills in response to ICE actions, prohibiting civil arrests at R.I. courthouses without a valid judicial warrant.
“The achievement is what we are looking for,” said Nana Awuah Panin III, chief of New Juaben. “We want them to be the best team. We want to be able to beat every team they meet.
The stars’ visit to the State House brought attention to State Senator Lori Urso’s bill, which aims to spur discussion on a taboo topic, bar discrimination, and provide treatment.
