In a burst of last-minute lawmaking, the Rhode Island General Assembly wrapped up its 2026 legislative session at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, passing bills to make crash data public and limit the use of self-checkout lanes at grocery stores.
The House and Senate also passed three bills in response to ICE actions, prohibiting civil arrests at R.I. courthouses without a valid judicial warrant.
