This is largely by design. If we stop thinking about AI as simply technology and instead as part of a political and economic program, its chief function become easier to see: namely to erode interpersonal trust so that ultimately we give up on forms of agreement & negotiation arbitrated by people.
In retrospect this is very funny
Every author should have a little private group where they can whine and be extremely petty in a safe environment where they all know you're just exhausted and terrified of the steady collapse of your industry and don't actually care that Popular Book Series is making 100x your sales and income.
I keep seeing framing like THESE ARE RECORD STORMS/FIRES and even if they attribute it to #climatechange, it's still "this is an outlier" not "this will get worse and worse" much less "this will get worse in ways we can't actually predict."
And almost zero sense that we should *prepare*.
