The old DQVI patch had two notorious bugs- backing out of the Info > All and Equip menus would softlock the game. Fan translation had some infinite looping/preemptive fail-safes. Took awhile to understand, but it's solved by a few lines of code

With some furious hacking I was able to pull out all of the text from NoPrgress' ancient patch, decode/convert/re-encode all of the text data with the new font widths, which generates very fast too. With this plus the ability to rewrite text anywhere, the pastabilities are endless
I made a page for the translation of Dragon Quest VI SFC to a cleaner, less buggy English/SNES version. The effort is going well and it's been an interesting exercise to figure it all out. More to come: cleartonic.net/dq6/
