The claim that AI will be used to boost productivity and improve everyone's lives would have just a little bit more credibility if the big tech companies weren't already using AI exactly as every knows they will, which is to fire people and extract more work from those remaining.
FSSNA has an originality clause that asks submitters not to use LLMs to generate their proposal. I love this so much.
Some may argue "well, people will just lie and say they didn't use it." Maybe. But what are we normalizing when we allow scholars to submit AI-generated work?
