Fletcher's Flights, a novelette at the edges of the Churchlands and the Five Deserts, inspired by the Alberta prairies and coulees where I grew up.
"Wanted to make my first good memory with someone like you."
My short story “Every Force Evolves a Form” will be in @bcsmagazine.bsky.social this summer.
I’m over the moon about it,

When I recovered, I tried to peel a berenton myself. The skin of the fruit seemed to harden wherever my fingers landed, showed sharp scales everywhere I moved my thumb, made a bloody mess of my hand. When at last I wrestled the flesh out, it tasted of nothing at all. The flavor of a berenton is determined entirely by its surroundings. Alas, in Rialynas I came to find that I was the same.

What a fortuitous re-release of the prehistoric/mythic novelette that turned out to be about climate change as I work on the prehistoric/mythic novel that has turned out to be even more about climate change.
This is the story of mine I usually tell people to start with! Imaginary fruits with a hint of longing
