When a journalist finally pushes back on your lies to your face
30 years ago today, on 10 June 1996, the late great Professor Seamus Dunn gave me a job at what was then the University of Ulster. It was a 2 year research post but led to my entire academic career. I learned a lot & made life long friends. I owe him a lot. We all need a start. Seamus gave me mine ❤️

Not the first time Loyalists have exercised a taste for burning minorities out. ‘Belfast Pogrom’ 1920-22 and 1969. Robinson & Musk etc know what they are stoking…. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

We can't look away from the images of families fleeing burning houses without calling this out as a pogrom, whipped up by influential actors who care nothing for the people of Belfast: www.irishnews.com/news/norther...
This post is drained of contextual meaning. ‘Unrest’ ‘anti-immigration demonstrations’? Not really. Unrest = orchestrated loyalist mob. & these weren’t ’demonstrations’ they were thugs attempting a racist pogrom, kicking in doors & forcing people out of their homes based on the colour of their skin

The idea being peddled in some quarters that the problem here is the Common Travel Area and a frictionless Irish border need to give their heads a wobble.
I’d be surprised if nationalists (esp at a political level) have anything to do with ‘anti-immigration protests’, a relatively silent vigil for the victim might be a different matter? Apart from racist thuggery, the broader issue here links to loyalist sense of demographic decline in urban areas.
I think it’s so they don’t have to talk to you? Equally heinously -why do they order food and drink on afternoon flights that last for 40 minutes? Poor cabin crew have to race their cart down the aisle before it lands! Perhaps it’s the same people?

Violence erupts in Belfast after protests over knife attack
Yes. Basically the last episode of nearly every series now spends most of the time pitching for another season rather than finishing the story properly -so loose ends are left untied or plots fudged just in case they want to keep story lines or characters going. You can spot it a mile off.
