This is my biggest frustration with modern who. Effects are not everything. The @bigfinish.bsky.social Doctor Who story I listened to recently was all set in a intergalactic car park. Surely a tv version could be finish in a cardiff car park very cheaply!

Ian Fleming might have made the world’s first trillionaire this evil, but only Philip K. Dick could have made him such a pathetic drug-addled loser, desperate for attention and adulation but incapable of human relationships, and now terrified to go out in public.
Just remembered this today - one of my favourite snippets of incidental dialogue in a SF novel. Philip K. Dick could be wonderfully playful at times 🙂

Jumping into the #doctorwho discourse so this guy for the new Doctor. The clubhouse is the TARDIS (bigger on inside than outside), rotating group of companions (these aren't the first squirrels) and impossible to accurately age him.
