Hmm. This is obviously something I should find incredibly exciting, but, for some reason, I just don't.
He's clearly a top player: well-rounded, physical, effective - it's no surprise top teams are circling.
But if Spurs have set aside £80m for a midfielder, there are others I'd much prefer.
My first thought is of Álvaro Carreras, and what this move means for his development.
That’s suddenly a very interesting player on the market, and one I’m sure a lot of top clubs will now be monitoring.
If Brighton’s approaches for Vušković do indeed climb and reach £60m, meaning Spurs essentially swap the young Croatian for Jan-Paul Van Hecke, then I think it would be a catastrophic decision that completely disregards the long term and wrongly priorities the short-term. Spurs must tread carefully.
Surely Spurs aren’t even giving Brighton’s offer of £30m for Luka Vusković a second thought.
It will be take a bid of double that for Spurs to even consider, but really they’d be mad to sell at any price.
A two-year loan however, to sweeten a deal for J-P Van Hecke, would be a win for all parties.
I can’t get back into my Twitter to retweet these from the archive, but it’s fair to say that I’ve been a big of Marcos Senesi for some time.
I’m really pleased that he’s finally ended up in N17. Top signing.
GK: Marco Carnesecchi / Bart Verbruggen
CB: Jan-Paul Van Hecke
MF: Aleix Garcia / Máximo Perrone
FW: Savinho / Bazoumana Touré
ST: Fisnik Asllani / Nicolò Tresoldi
One of these for each area, supplemented by a couple of youngsers, add in Senesi and Robertson and I think that's a strong window.
@nathanaclark.bsky.social made a good point during the video about complimenting Senesi with an agile RCB with good recovery pace.
JPVH for all of his qualities, isn't really that.
Some options:
Antonio Silva - error prone
Mario Gila - everything is 100 mph
Ismaëlo Ganiou - unlikely to leave Lens
Okay, so after watching the @theextrainch.bsky.social video and seeing a few other takes, I had a crack at using their cool Squad Planner Tiers Tool, and I think I'm pleased?
Desperately wanted to write down Scott and go big on a left winger, but realism/budget...
Maybe should've added Van Hecke?
Do Spurs still have their affiliation with Djurgardens? If so, picking up Matias Siltanen this summer and sending him on a Eredivisie or Belgian Pro League loan would be an easy win.
I'm darn keen on Nicolò Tresoldi.
He looks comfortably like the most interesting and impressive non-elite striker on the market to me. Due a big move, surely.
