Like I will never forget the 2018 NFL QB draft class (esp Allen, Darnold and Baker) all unanimously agreeing how Elite 11 etc is bad for kids bc it limits them athletically and it’s only gotten worse in the decade since
Poli Sci fact: people do not & have never had ideologically consistent beliefs. I will add this is most pronounced in times of uncertainty when people want change but do not have a developed ideological or practical program for change. That’s what political parties & other civic endeavors are for.

-and not do what we did in 2020 where ppl became overly anxious about who will win despite it being obvious the morning after E-Day bc of the long count*
But srsly I hate when ppl compare CA to other states who count faster bc they have *more restrictive* voting policies!
But also since our society was an understandably anxiety-riddled mess (thanks to COVID, phones, 24-news cycles) even non-media ppl who knew better were freaking out and didn’t help calm ppl’s concerns
So if we want more voting access, we do have to accept some loss of efficiency & immediateness
We really shouldn’t defend inefficient process but CA in part takes longer to count bc they are very liberal w/ voting access (which is good) and being liberal w/ voting access can cause delays in voting count (which we saw *nationwide* in 2020 w/ absentee access)
So we have to accept a trade off
*media & GOP hacks also partially at fault for the hysteria
Not that I necessarily disagree but tbf professional athletes are notoriously petty and often maladjusted esp now when youth sports/leagues, esp elite ones, have become increasingly professionalized
And it took until Nov 6 for the election that took place on Nov 3 to be officially called
Which should have been bc it was clear Nov 4 that the absentees meant Biden was going to win but the media lowkey failed completely in conveying this fact, allowing conspiracies to further fester
I’m an Abundance die-hard so inefficient bureaucracy should be flamed bc it makes bureaucracy harder and more difficult to strengthen & fund
But it’s a mistake to call this a CA problem but when other states had liberal absentee voting policies during COVID, they ran into a similar problem
It’s both true CA can absolutely do better w/ more funding to speed up processing but also the delay is in part of CA’s more liberal voting policies (which are good) and ppl tbb need to accept immediacy & voting rights can conflict at times
And we know this bc we saw this in 2020 outside CA
