“But Colette. Calling Congress doesn’t make a difference!”
You wanna fucking bet? I sit in meeting nearly every week where staffers tell me they aren’t hearing about these issues.

The psych job market isn’t dead! Join us at UIC!!! We are looking for a clinical psychologist (assistant or associate level)!! Chicago is simply the best, and the department is incredibly lovely! I’m not on search committee, but as the “newest” hire, I’m happy to talk about my experience thus far!
We randomized 7,505 American adults experiencing depression to one of the 12 SSIs or a control.
Nearly all SSIs boosted agency and hope for improvement immediately (Cohen's ds ≤ 0.37). However, only two significantly reduced depression four weeks later (ds = 0.14 and 0.15).

Nice reminder that because a study is published in a journal does not mean it’s a good study or that its stated conclusions are reasonable!
When people say they are “doing their own research,” even if reading primary literature, missing the context & subtleties can lead to wildly wrong conclusions.
