Actually thinking about it now there’s another reason I blocked that account, and it ties into one of my general issues with AI. I get making a tool that can process language & do useful things. Fine. But making it a CHARACTER that talks in 1st person is some combo unnecessary/insulting/problematic
Ah this is the post I saw bsky.app/profile/soph...
Congrats! I'm glad you're all doing well.
OMG that movie 🤯
Someone recently posted on here that there’s no non-problematic reason to make LLMs talk in the first person and it was so immediately obviously true I was amazed I hadn’t noticed. I think a LOT of the problems with LLMs would be mitigated if they weren’t all set up to pretend to be a person.
Ah, well, alas. I hope it's helpful to you!
I almost never use feeds at all; I follow people whose posts I'm interested in (with a few exceptions in either direction for various reasons). Occasionally I glance at the "Popular with Friends" feed or at one of the custom ones I'm subscribed to but feeds aren't a big part of my experience here.
This was my initial reaction to it bsky.app/profile/astr... I know it's a tool that I don't have to use, and likely won't have any real effect on me. I am in general very burned out on "agentic" stuff online and don't want to deal with it here.
Haven’t seen an interview in a while but I would not be surprised if
“I’m a lifelong fan of musical theater, but it’s always bothered me that they feel the need to sing all the time. I just want to see them walk around the stage and talk calmly to each other”
