Yadav, Jadhav, @hanasedlackova.bsky.social et al present a novel cell-permeable biotin-HaloTag ligand. The reported ligand expands the HaloTag toolbox by enabling in vivo labeling & providing capabilities for efficient affinity capture of protein variants from live cells rupress.org/jcb/article/...

This is really bad. The ERC is the lifeline of many labs. The letter from the ERC says โ€œthe only way is to reduce applicationsโ€ No! It's the wrong direction. Use AI to assist review. Itโ€™s not perfect, but it allows more proposals to be evaluated, and it should support, not replace, human reviewers.

DNA replication globally disrupts the epigenome. But does this create a chromatin-access opportunity for TF binding to facilitate cell identity change? New preprint with @gfudenberg.bsky.social We find the rate of cohesin loop extrusion in cells is set by NIPBL dosage and tunes many aspects of chromosome folding. This provides a molecular basis for NIPBL haploinsufficiency in humans. ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡ www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I donโ€™t know if you saw the MASSIVE news announced by @erc.europa.eu today: from now on, if you get a B at step 1 you are eligible to apply at N+3(!!!) years. Say you got a B in STG2026 step 1, you thought you could apply in STG2028, but no: only in STG2029! erc.europa.eu/news-events/...
