So proud to see this story finally out!🎉 We added new data since our previous preprint—transgenic barley plants with an engineered immune receptor that fights off two fungal pathogens at once. Short 🧵 and link to the original preprint thread on X👇

Finally made it.... congratulations all.

Preprint Alert 🚨 @philcarella.bsky.social lab stepping into TIR-ritory!! Project started by me but finished by talented PhD student @ebkennedy.bsky.social (Please follow her), with contribution from Zhao He and @jonathandgjones.bsky.social We investigated EDS1-dependency of TIR domain. See thread👇
New Preprint in collaboration with GoogleDeepMind: AI-guided discovery of atypical protein assemblies
The @kamounlab.bsky.social discovered an 11-protomer complex thanks to the Structural Novelty Index , a new way to use AlphaFold to find protein assemblies that break the pattern.
Fun thread. Cool work, and make sure to read all the way to the end!
Just published: Breaking the Pattern with AlphaFold: Introducing the Structural Novelty Index
AlphaFold has transformed how we predict protein structures. But sometimes most interesting discoveries come from asking a different question: which proteins break the pattern?

Plants and animals respond to pathogen attack by mounting innate immune responses that require intracellular nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins. These immune receptors detect pathog...
Artificial intelligence (AI) systems such as AlphaFold have transformed structural biology by enabling accurate prediction of protein structures. However, their capacity to uncover new classes of…

Protein structure prediction changed biology. Protein assembly discovery is next.
We present SNI (Structural Novelty Index), a scalable framework for finding new protein complexes.
We used it to uncover an unexpected resistosome assembly: 11-mer. 🧵👇🏻
