🇷🇴 🇧🇬 Using SkyTruth’s Cerulean tool, Greenpeace Romania and Greenpeace Bulgaria launched the first interactive pollution map for the marine region, providing a transparent, data-driven tool to inform the public, media, and policymakers.
🤝 We're celebrating partnerships this #WorldEnvironmentDay! 🌍 Regional Greenpeace organizations recently partnered with us to conduct joint investigations using satellite imagery and analyses to examine local marine pollution from shipping and oil and gas activity.
We detected 226 oil slicks over four years on the surface of the #BlackSea, 55 of which were found within protected areas, and over 170 were attributed to illegal bilge-dumping. In total, the slicks covered 1308 square kilometers.
