I understand the frustration of people in other social sciences, I really do But not all economists are like this I have to admit that over the years, these generalizations have become increasingly demoralizing and I increasingly perceive them as incentives to retreat into pure economics

As an economist who respect and value the other fields I interact with, it always pains me when colleagues in other social sciences post generalizations like these I’m not saying there is no hubris among economists, it’s rather that these generalizations obliterate the work of people like me
Also, I have some reservations about using Tyler Cowen and Richard Hanania as reference about anything

Postures like mine are a sort of loss-loss: you pay a price among economists for being genuinely open to other social sciences and you pay a price among the other social sciences for being an economist After a while, it just becomes tiring

*Bien sûr, les aptitudes individuelles à faire des mathématiques varient d'une personne à l'autre. Néanmoins, ces variations ne doivent pas être confondues avec une sorte d'incapacité fondamentale à travailler avec les mathématiques.
