Note that the US will be relatively less affected by this, with a mix of domestic winners and losers. Other countries that are more vulnerable - see east Asian economies - are behind the ball despite oil shocks upending their economies at a macro level.
Even for them, incentives for hard long term policy solutions fade once the crisis is over.
This sentiment is hopeful but way off base. Energy price spikes are cyclical, and we've had many before - 2022 wasn't even that long ago! Policy moves slower than markets. policymakers across countries will seek short term responses, and pressure will abate before long term solutions are implemented
