Last week in Santiago de Compostela there was a stimulating conference on the Marques de Santillana. While there, I made a point of passing as often as possible the Cathedral's early modern Puerta Santa: I fell for its reuse of the prophets from the late 12th-century choir (destroyed in 1603).
Great programme including three @memsunikent.bsky.social stars. Wish I could be there.
Spent the weekend finishing my paper for this conference in Santiago this week. It has led me to revisit my work on the 'Europolitan' nature of Italian Renaissance humanism and it is stimulating to think afresh. Very much looking forward to hearing the other papers and being inspired by them.
+ Looking ahead, a bumper double issue for 2026 will appear in the late autumn - we have some treats lined up for you in that - ahead of the exciting changes already announced by @mediumaevum.bsky.social
Steely skies and a breezy day but I know a warm welcome awaits inside as I come for some #fragment fun.

A great time @cburycathedral.bsky.social with the Graffiti Research Project hearing about their exciting work. Thanks to Miranda, Lucinda, Clare, Andrew and David, and best of luck to all the team for your important work.
In my hand and soon to be in yours - the latest issue of @mediumaevum.bsky.social, in which you can travel from Portugal to Burgundy (via Florence or London) and from the seventh to the fifteenth century +
