Another person told me they hated the hetero normative sex scenes in God of War, so therefore they hate all sex scenes. I have now turned off quote posts 👋
"idk man, that movie was weird, they kept cutting to these beautiful panning shots of nature and letting us take in the sounds of the forest. I don't see how that furthers the plot."
A lot of ppl who don't follow me quoted this to say costuming & set dressing do in fact have narrative value. Which is why I mentioned them. Cuz just like sex scenes, the narrative value may not be as obvious as things like the dialog and plot. It's easier to believe I'm being trolled sometimes
Sex scenes can have narrative value for character development, etc, but you can also include them if they don't. You can include them because it makes you happy. Like you would a beautifully composed shot of the landscape
Ppl will be like "if the sex scene has no narrative value it shouldn't be included." Ok, jokes have no narrative value. Does costuming have narrative value? The set dressing? Maybe some parts of a story can just be there because they are ENJOYABLE. What a concept
