There’s a lot that I am proud of in my life, but being part of the team that got our first union contract is definitely up there. 💕
My first 2.5 years at OPB, I was an on-call temp employee making $19 an hour w/out benefits.
No one else will ever be in that situation again thanks to this contract ✊
- Premium payments including fill-in pay, hazard pay, language differential & standby pay
- Protections around AI, safety, grievance processes and layoffs and severance
After 19 months of bargaining, we have not reached an agreement with OPB that includes livable wages and sufficient yearly guaranteed increases for the people who create the content you love.
Make your voice heard during OPB's membership Drive today, February 5 - February 14.
Here's how ⬇️
Unit member @cligori.bsky.social checked out the "ruff" competition in Oregon for the Westminster AKC Dog Show.
We are the people who tell the stories that connect our communities. #UnionStrong ✊🏼
We did it y'all!!!!
After 20+ months and 35 bargaining sessions, the content creators at OPB and KMHD, represented by SAG-AFTRA, have reached a tentative agreement.

So grateful for the sustaining support of OPB members every day, but especially days like today (see: Skanner closing; see also: Bezos gutting the Washington Post newsroom).
If you give to OPB during our drive, thank you and tell 'em @opbkmhdcreators.bsky.social sent ya.
Here are some highlights of the tentative agreement:
- No minimum salaries in contract lower than $65k, minimum salary increases for many positions
- KMHD hosts in particular get a nearly 30% increase retroactive to July ’25
- Guaranteed yearly increases of at least 3% for all 3 yrs of the contract
When @opb.org ended Hush, even Harvard's Nieman Storyboard could see how short-sighted that was. After making four successful podcasts together, @ryanjhaas.bsky.social and I are committed to continuing our investigative work in the Northwest, and we're launching our own publication. More soon.
