My latest read. This was a charming book. It was short, a novella I suppose from 2001. The premise of the story seems absurd, removing letters of the alphabet & criminalizing their use, but seems prescient in these days of book bans & LGBTQ erasure. Thanks @bklynlibrary.bsky.social #booksky #BPL
I made another Chinese recipe. It used pork for a change & I made should it was as spicy as written. I made sure I had hot long peppers & replaced the bland stale dried chilies I was using recently with new ones. The heat is balanced with numbing from Sichuan peppercorns. Recipe below 1/2 #foodsky
I made Chinese vegetable dumplings then hot & sour dumpling soup with them. I flubbed both a little by not letting the dumpling wrapper dry a little & then cooking them too long. Many fell apart or barely held together but it was still very good. Recipes below 1/3 #foodsky #cooking
I made another Chinese dish. I think the delivery guy from my usual takeout place is going to request a wellness check since he hasn’t heard from me forso long. This is chicken lo mein & it’s the Chinese-American version. I found good fresh noodles for it. Recipe below 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking
The recipe is from Woks of Life. It uses pork belly, a fairly new cut to me outside of it being cured/smoked into bacon. It surprisingly flavorful since their is no sauce & the only liquid add is a spoonful of shaoxing wine. 2/2 thewoksoflife.com/sichuan-thre...
I came home last night & as I walked into my apartment I noticed it smelled faintly like a Chinese restaurant lol. Food like this, beef with bamboo shoots & peppers, might be the reason. It’s only 3 ingredients plus seasonings, so it cooks quickly but is tasty. Recipe below 1/2 🍜🍽️ #foodsky #cooking
NYC restored & re-opened the observation deck of the David Dinkins municipal building, one of the main building for NYC government, today. Centre360 they’re calling it. I was the in first group up there. Here’s the view to the north, east, south & west.
Just like I have a go-to Chinese takeout place, I have a go-to place for Chinese & Chinese-American cooking & recipes, Woks of Life which I’ve seen called the Bible for Chinese home cooking. The sauce & the right fresh noodles are key to this recipe. 2/2 thewoksoflife.com/chicken-lo-m...
The recipe was from Woks of Life. I especially like to share their recipes because they’re free. The peppers are all long peppers aka horn pepper, those light green long & twisty ones. The heat level between removing the seeds or keeping them is like night & day 2/2 thewoksoflife.com/beef-bamboo-...
