Nothing says ‘freedom’ like burning taxpayer money on dirt bikes at the White House for a billionaire’s birthday party. Bread’s expensive, rent’s worse, but sure, let’s fund a midlife crisis with fireworks and motocross. Peak empire decay. America is not a serious country.
My read on this is that, if there's anything at all to read into this (and I'm not sure there is), it's that the responses to this survey are *entirely* performative. "Conservative" profs saying they feel way more self-censored under Trump is because they feel they need to play the victim...

I have had students point blank ask me who to vote for or how to vote on a ballot proposition. I'm happy to, say, explain what complicated language in a proposition means, but it would be wildly inappropriate for me to say "Oh yeah, just vote yes on Prop A1" or whatever.
Ah yes, another case where it is actually VERY IMPORTANT to self-censor. ✅
What even does self-censorship mean in a classroom environment? I "self-censor" all the time because literally it wouldn't be appropriate for a faculty member to fill class time with their personal political opinions? It's just being a professional.
