I think there is also the hippy/ metalhead dynamic that goes on with fandoms ("hippies are often the worst people you meet pretending to be nice and metalheads the nicest pretending to be mean") with fandoms that could be expected to attract really vile people bring more prepared to guard against it
There is a genuine case here to argue that there is two tier policing, given that the police and security services seem much, much more prepared to crack down on advocating political violence by eg Muslims than they are by white people with far right sympathies ("legitimate concerns")
Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement. Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences. Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else. Enough.
I'm not sure we did. In the UK the media was always much more happy calling them race riots if it was minorities rioting not only white people attacking minorities
Think we can chat about two tier media? Two somali lads got the shit beaten out of them by a white gang in an explicitly racist attack near me a few months ago - didn't even get properly mentioned in the local press, let alone national media coverage like this.
"you're only hurting yourselves! (And the people you're burning out of their homes, but enough about them)"
I mean, that’s not the main problem with it.
*being more prepared
So Dr Who, as a nice, BBC children's show will have less inoculation against toxic fandom than, say, 2000 AD
I didn't burn down my neighbour's house last night because I'm in a woke bluesky echo chamber.
