Bradwell Nuclear Power Station on the Essex coast was one of Britain’s earliest civilian nuclear plants. Built 1957–62, it operated for 40 years before closing in 2002. Now in long-term care and maintenance, with the site not expected to be fully dismantled until well into the 2080s. #Bradwell

St Leonard-at-the-Hythe, Colchester. Built 12th-13th c, this medieval church once overlooked the busy port of the Hythe on the tidal River Colne. Today the waterfront has long since changed, but the church remains a reminder of the ships, merchants and maritime trade that helped Colchester prosper.
