If you're actively in the throes of chaotic use, yeah, not ideal. But the solution there is to treat the underlying issue. Don't want "crackheads" to have guns? Instead of focusing on taking the guns how about we devote our energy to improving material circumstances and preventing chaotic use?
Not for nothing @elienyc.bsky.social, while I continue to respect your analysis, really not a fan of the deployment of dehumanization of people who use drugs. Yeah, I think regardless of the substance you use your constitutionally protected civil rights should remain available to you.
You are far more likely to be killed by a car than a gun in America but find me a gov’t entity at the federal, state, or local levels which invests as much into mode shift or traffic safety as they do policing.
This is a major win and long past due.
