Postmortem on CLCPA (NY State climate law, now shelved). Good to read:

wow. @petesikora.bsky.social shows his homework - and lifts the curtain on a decade of behind-the-scenes NYS climate coalition strategy. the stuff you rarely get to see laid out in plain English unless you’re close to the battle (it’s generous of him to quote me here. I was paraphrasing him, ha)
Trump is using public funding to pay off and prevent renewable energy from competing with oil, gas and coal, which will raise utility bills, kill jobs and increase pollution. It’s batshit crazy!

I’ll keep posting about it for a couple weeks and sending it to people directly, too. FWIW while it’s about New York climate specifics, I also think it’s relevant to efforts in other places and on other issues. I hope you check it out!
New York Comptroller Mark Levine takes a big first step towards breaking up with climate wreckers Blackrock and State Street! Thanks to @nychange and everyone else who's pushed hard for this. More pushing required! comptroller.nyc.gov/newsroom/nyc...

I wrote a thing I hope you read if you’re a climate person. It’s about the debacle of NY’s climate law. I’m contrasting that with the ongoing win with NYC’s Local Law 97. Both faced reactionary attack by big $$$. The form and shape of our fight really matters! docs.google.com/document/d/1...

I’m not expecting a mass audience here, to put it mildly. 😂 Rather, I hope that people for whom this stuff matters read it and consider what it says. docs.google.com/document/d/1...
I wrote a long piece I hope you read. It’s on NYS & NYC climate action. It’s longer and more of a diatribe than previous pieces about model winning campaigns. It’s also spicier b/c it contrasts effective policy & campaigns with ineffective work. Link ⬇️ docs.google.com/document/d/1...

“Too many groups prioritize access politics over results. They are afraid that if they criticize a powerful politician, they won’t be able to get any meetings - and will look as if they lack influence. They confuse proximity to power with real influence.” THIS THIS THIS

NYC’s pension funds can protect pension fund returns and tackle climate risk at the same time. They’re complementary, not contradictory! NYCC statement is response to @marklevinenyc.bsky.social announcement linked ⬇️
