DO NOT CONFESS CRIMES TO SLOP GENERATORS.
Robot lawyers are not lawyers, and your inputs to them are probably not privileged.
Which isn't to say that women don't participate! But even in a (fairly) female friendly armed force like that of Ukraine, the vast bulk of the task, and especially the frontline task, is going to fall on mobilized male civilians and you need those civvies to mostly voluntarily answer the call.
All the "LOL why masculinity matter, just be good person" takes ignore that, on rare occasions, you do in fact need mass societal mobilization to take up arms, the bulk of that burden will fall on men, and you do need at least somewhat of a carrot/stick emotional priming to ensure men do it.
So basically the best case scenario right now is that Platner engaged in fairly significant intimate partner violence and is also a serial liar, including about his deathcamp tattoo, which he apparently got because the SS were "killers."
But surely he's telling the truth that this is it.
I feel like the Among Us show Paramount just dropped is a pretty perfect encapsulation of animation's problems right now. It's six years too late, because animation takes forever, yet it doesn't particularly look good, is only two hours of material, and has an excessively celebrity laden VA cast.
I think the challenge with masculinity discourse is that there is still a segment of tasks/duties that are risky in a way that is distinctly male-coded and which are prosocial, and you do want there to be a general societal premium to encourage men to undertake them. They're just fewer than before.
You can also, extremely fairly, say that most of the problems we want men to be primed to volunteer to step in to deal with are generally created by other men. And that is, extremely true. But, until you've solved the problem of good and evil, you still need the priming.
And this goes down the chain as well. The basis reality is that, if a fire breaks out, or someone is completely breaking down on the subway and is a threat to others, by default you're going to want men to step in to risk trying to control the situation. And that takes some priming!
