I can’t seem to get over my annoyance around the discourse for Mixtape. It’s biggest problem really is that it got a 10/10 review, it has just as much game play as untitled goose game, or powerwash simulator. People didn’t put half as much effort into crapping their pants in anger over those.
In fact - I’d say if you’re not in your late 30’s or early 40’s then your chances of liking this game are probably severely reduced as the nostalgia is picking up half of the couch here, but I still think it’s a good game in spite of that.
It’s a short story game, a slice of life/coming of age story about some dumb kids looking back on their friendship(s) while on the precipice of their new lives. It’s a big slice of nostalgia pie delivered as a cosy game. This is not meant to be for everyone.
Yes, the gameplay isn’t very complex - it’s not elden ring, World of Warcraft, or Helldivers. It’s an interactive story - it’s still a game. The publisher has a rich person in it? What a shocker. Do you know how a fucking publisher works?
So, I really enjoyed mixtape and I really don’t get why people have got so worked up over this. Is it a 10/10 game? I’m not sure about that, I’d rank it pretty high (I really enjoyed it) but I’m not sure I’d say it’s perfect. Yes, it’s short - but it barely costs more than a cinema ticket. #mixtape
Mixtape is an incredible game. That is all.
I enjoy taking demon allies for my chaos knights, but I really wish there were options that worked better for me than the nurgle ones. I want to have some variety in my models.
