It's hard to beat the 1 week rental lakehouse in WI experience. Get your daily run/walk in by 9am. Make pancakes for the house. Jumping off the dock. Add the pontoon boat rental so you can float around in the middle of lake. Daily happy hour. Couple hours of playing cards. Sleep like a rock.

It works like housing in NIMBY market. When rent goes up, the natural reaction is that people want to build more housing. If they can can't do that, then the poor get priced out. In sports, they'll want to add more teams. They can't do that, so it drifts toward a hobby only the top can enjoy.

A funny thing about the people that live in that thin band that aren't loaded is that they drive to palm springs or vegas to hang around at pools because they get bored of going to beach where it's always kinda cooler than ideal.
People that complain about hot summers in Wisconsin have no idea how good they have it. You either have to go so far north that season is 3 weeks long or to a marine climate like coastal Oregon where you can't do quintessential summer activities.
If you're absolutely loaded, you can live in the thin band along the california pacific where it's 72 every day, go swimming with a wetsuit, and take a jet to Miami or Park City for beach or skiing. For the rest of us, we adapt to the weather.
Part of summer is it being 85 and humid and running through a sprinkler or jumping in a lake. Spending days at the pool or the beach. Moderately hot and humid (like 80 to 93 degrees) is the sweet spot for a ton of activities.

5 more years based on the trend.
My wife likes to take our son to chicago a couple times per year to go to museums. Kids tickets are 50% off on Amtrak and they ride free on CTA. Most museums have reciprocity with our Milwaukee memberships. Pack a bag lunch. It's a great day for about 85 bucks.

If you go to DC & points south, you'll get into July & August where the low temperature will be a thick 75 degrees at 11 PM. It just doesn't get cool. That does not happen in Wisconsin. It's pretty rare to hit even consecutive days where there isn't a tolerable window for running, yard work.

I can't afford live NFL football. It's just too expensive. Easily $500 bucks for a very entry level experience for a family of 4 at the worst game of the season at either of the 2 teams within a reasonable vicinity.
