i have been obsessed with this for years. allowing manufacturers to sell direct to consumers would be good for consumers and also destroying the car dealership would be an existential crisis for republicans

I feel it’s sort of underrated the extent to which a Dem Congress and/or states could (1) absolutely destroy car dealerships as a business, and (2) this would cripple a lot of GOP state and local parties

UFC is very big among the toxically masculine (and adjacent). This group is, as I have been dragged for pointing out, actually quite large and politically relevant.

Other similarities are the use of new military technologies and systems that have been in development for decades but not tested, and the fact that the the middle power's battlefield victory covers up how much damage was actually done, and ushers in a new hardline government.
I do think probably the clearest and most annoying example of the Trump admin trying to portray their election as a cultural project rather than any attempt to improve public policy
The cause of woman, in other words, is the cause of democracy. There is simply no distance between them.
I really do think that basically every argument about strategy/rhetoric/tactics/policy/willpower/intention/belief/etc is downstream of the entirely unknowable question of "Will people who have no interest or knowledge in these debates change their votes?", which is what's driving us all crazy.

My office is putting car dealerships on notice. Today, we issued an advisory asserting that Massachusetts law requires transparent pricing in ads. Purchasing a car is a significant investment, you deserve upfront pricing, not hidden fees. I'll hold companies accountable to protect your bottom line.

God these people are evil.
honestly I think the best metaphor for this debacle is the Russo-Japanese war: -idiot ruler with delusions of grandeur -empire wants to show a middle power whos in charge -negotiators are idiots -imperial logistics are all fucked up -empire surrenders to middle power after defeat
I do think that it will be the work of a generation, but that Trump truly has torched things in a way that will noticeably weaken America basically forever, and possibly irretrievably (and this is bad).
