This plus banning the use of wireless communication devices in schools is all long overdue stuff. Canada is a day late, a dollar short on this file.
"He's arguing with the robots! You can't defeat the robots!" is an all-time great call
My fave Martin "joke" last night: "Guys, you know what I’ve been thinking about? In a way, don’t you think that the greatest Canadian song ever written is the call of the loon? The mournful call of the mighty loon by the artist known as mother nature, am I right?"
All in the pure dork delivery.
Amused by all the posts here warning Bluesky users that there may be jokes coming in two days. Humour preparedness.
This was my quick take on the Junos last night - but Mae Martin really nailed a great tone for a Canadian awards broadcast. Bring them back.
We're so used to the American comic joke-roast style, but having a fan stand-in express genuine enthusiasm + earnest observational humour was a nice vibe.
Broadcasting the Juno Awards on YouTube as well as on linear and Gem has been a smart move by the CBC. The 2026 edition is already at 1.8m views on the ‘Tube, 2.5x last year. m.youtube.com/watch?v=9NqL...
Parents: Second City Toronto has just announced a revue for young audiences. Great idea!
No Grown-Ups Allowed will be performed Saturdays from April 11 to August 29 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
I'm always looking for new kids things to do in this city where the province loves to close kids things...
Hopefully, the federal Liberals will tell Doug Ford and the Ontario PC MPPs who have let the premier ride roughshod over Toronto for the last eight years to take a hike in complaining about high-speed rail coming through their ridings. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...
Kardinal Offishall and Jully Black performing Promiscuous Girl! This is great. Love this Furtado tribute.
The Juno Awards telecast was great - so many notable moments. I was supposed to do a "the best, the worst..." but I really struggled to think of anything negative to say.
Mae Martin's sunny ways are infectious.
Plus, I mean, come on: Joni Mitchell. www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/musi...
