The soundtrack is less stand-out, there's an opening monologue desperately trying to be the one from the first game, the writing is more safe and approachable. My beloved Scaevola is a shadow of her former self where her programmatic speech feels tacked onto her regular lines now. The sauce is gone.
I've been playing Mechanicus 2 and it's good, but it feels so much more like a Games Workshop™️Product than its predecessor. It's had the characterful edges smoothed off in a bad way and there was even a Marvelesque Space Marines cameo.
First game had more of a soul but this one is still good.
Invading worlds shows up a good amount in sci-fi, both on the small scale and the large scale. But if we look to reality we see there's a lot more to it than many media depictions show, which we go over in this weeks Spacedock video:
