I've always liked that film. At the time, it was kind of shocking seeing Hayley play a truly adult role for the first time (although she played a kinda sorta adult of 17 in Sky West and Crooked with a young Ian McShane as a Gypsy boy). You'd have thought our Hayley would stay a child forever.
No, I did not know that. Williamsburg?
I'm midway through the 8-episode Count of Monte Cristo (2024) starring Sam Claflin in the title role. Despite remembering the book pretty well, it has been highly engrossing. Looks great, too, and--though only in one episode--it's grand to see Jeremy Irons again in a good part. #TVsky
Roughly translated, this means: "Don't destroy the Earth today!"
I never knew until today that "Every Little Kiss" was Hornsby's first Hot 100 single. It peaked at #72 before The Way It Is. Then, it was released later and became a hit.
Let's start the day with a photo of Godzilla and his adopted son Minilla from Son of Godzilla (1967). Who can forget the touching scene where Godzilla teaches his kid how to roar and project his atomic ray? #filmsky
This morning in the car, Jody Watley told me she was looking for a new love (baby) and Bruce Hornsby missed every little kiss from his girlfriend. #musicsky
The Family Way may be best remembered for music by then-Beatle Paul McCartney. Actually, it's an unexceptional score with no songs. Murray Head ("One Night in Bangkok") plays Hywel's brother. Director John Boulting married Hayley in 1971; he was 33 years older than her.
I suppose it'd be a bonding experience!
At my blog this week, I review the 1966 British film The Family Way starring Hayley and John Mills (in one of his best performances): classicfilmtvcafe.com/2026/04/fami...
Hayley and Hywel Bennett play a young working class couple who have trouble consummating their marriage.
