A good thread. Also, we are often just people. However capable we seem to be, it often winds up weirdly disjointed from the person who actually needs to eat. Sure, we're clever, we write good things, but that person is the same person who starves because cis people want nothing to do with her.
Happy trans day of visibility! I am in a weird kind of situation in it, wherein I am visible as a trans person and as an intellectual figure, but never quite both at once.
Alas, I am now in Wellington so this is no longer quite relevant, but if you're in Auckland or Hamilton, do your patriotic duty!

Like, there's a cluster of us people doing weird logic shit that align way better than we do with the people nominally in our political groupings.
It's just struck me that by far the best predictor of political alignment on this website isn't your actual politics, but whether you've studied maths, statistics or analytical philosophy.
Yeah, that about says it all about our current situation, doesn't it?
I do wonder at what point we'll be able to start applying the logic of 'the fact that some Muslims created DAESH and did lots of atrocities does not mean that all Muslims are complicit in terrorism" to Jews.
