Looking up and down at 6978 N. Clark (Dubin & Eisenberg, 1929)
Hampton Court & Malbork Castle in Poland have 3 things in Common
- Brick
- Diaper patterns
- Mistakes in the Diaper patterns
This isn't a criticism, as these are examples of people experimenting!
I think at Malbork, they stopped for some reason. Bricks were often painted to improve the patterns
Alas, poor Yorick! I didn’t know this motherfucker at all. A fellow I have literally never heard of before tonight.
1/2 Mati is a Prof. Emeritus of Art & Photography from CSU & has a ridiculously impressive body of work, w/a special focus on Walter Burley Griffin. A lot of his stuff is done on an enormous antique camera that looks like a movie prop, but takes wildly gorgeous black & white shots. Go buy his book!
2/2 I know Mati because we both serve on the BoD of the Ridge Historical Society, where he heads our Historic Buildings Committee. We're currently exhibiting about a billion of his photos in celebration of the historic district's 50th anniversary, so after you buy his book, come see the exhibition!
