when the GM chapter of a game built around a "narrative dice system" says to sometimes roll in secret and fudge the rolls, something's epically fucked
#ttrpg
I wonder if the #TTRPG dynamic where shitty players will bully someone in their group who is afraid of losing access to the party and so puts up with it is similar. That person tries to solve their situation by fine-tuning RPG rules to protect themselves, but that of course doesn't work.
The adventurers face a closed door in a dungeon. While the thief's player states that they are picking the lock, I write down what is on the other side of the door in my notes. After a roll, they open the door and I describe what I had just wrote. Did I improvise or prep the contents of that room?
