#StandingStoneSunday
Purportedly a Wayside cross snapped off in the murky past, the Duddle Farm stone is perhaps more likely to be a repurposed (read, nicked) mile marker from the very nearby Roman road (the one what goes right past @durotrigesdig.bsky.social )
Mocked by trout and grayling alike, of which there were many and gorgeous specimens. They liked neither the flies I offered nor the manner in which I offered them.
Mr Minnow, however, was delighted by my # 18PTN. SO I didn't blank today, after all 😂
(He swam away with a lesson learnt, I trust)

Time to go a'visiting...
The name of this Chip Shop offends me only because they missed the chance to spell it Jolly Fryer
Thanks to the incredible @durotrigesdig.bsky.social team for making me so welcome on my flying visit this morning! Great to see the exciting archaeology - and if you're free Sunday 28th June, Go to their open day!!
Here's some Grade A++ archaeological pointing here 😂
Should we go to the camp?...
No,...
My father, who art in heaven*, taught me many things. But perhaps the most useful was how to go from zero to proper campfire in under 20 seconds with nothing more than dry kindling, a scrap of paper, and a single match.
*Maybe, other eschatologies are available.
Hello Bluesky! A favour, if you please...
This year's CHAP fieldschool is going to be a corker, and whilst registrations are coming in, I need a bit more exposure. I refuse to go back on Xitter...
If you think you might connect with those interested in learning archaeology in practice, plz share?
