I'm as big a soccer fan as anybody - and went to the games at Soldier Field in 94.

But FIFA, like the IOC, may be too much trouble - and expense - for even Chicago's famously wily politicians!
And back in 2010, I broke the story that Chicago - then under Rich Daley - wanted no part of the ill-fated US bid for the 2018 or 22 World Cups.
Yes, Daley brought 5 games here in 94 but decided it wasn't worth bidding again
