JUST DROPPED: Pakistan's solar boom is one of the energy transition's wildest stories, and nobody planned it.
World's #2 panel importer in 2025, mostly on rooftops. No subsidy, no scheme.
But it also has a dark side.

Global CO2 emissions have plateaued since 2013, leading to a slower growth in atmospheric CO2 than would have otherwise been the case. In a new analysis at The Climate Brink, I've taken look at what would have happened if emissions had continued to grow: www.theclimatebrink....

One way to look at this is to compare the probabilities: 1) what’s the probability that Altuve tags and scores vs. 2) what’s the probability that the next batter gets a hit?
I estimate that the odds of 1 are about 15%. Most batters are batting above .150, so 2 is probably the higher EV play.
The U.S. spent $11B in the first week of the Iran War and have spent many times that in weeks since, dwarfing the subsidy China has given solar panels.
This war is all about oil and is another example of how our entire society is effectively built around enormous subsidies for fossil fuels.
