NEW PREPRINT ALERT
(shameless plug: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...)
We’ve all been there:
Sitting in a cell biology talk when suddenly—
cytoskeleton fireworks
EB1-GFP comets streaking across the screen.
Tiny glowing microtubules everywhere.
Absolute cinema.
How to determine the proteome of cellular compartments?
We established a method to do just that, published n @eLife.bsky.social: SPEx: Compartment-Resolved Proteomics via Expansion Microscopy–Guided Microdissection doi.org/10.7554/eLif...

i visited DSHB @dshb-antibodies.bsky.social 2 years ago, incredible how such a critical community scientific resource is run so efficiently, economically and humbly. they maintain 1000s of mAbs at cost, and are fully self-supported from just a couple lab rooms!
By the way, @dshb-antibodies.bsky.social is a non-profit that sells quality antibodies to many proteins at exceptionally reasonable prices, without AI generated faux-validation images. Check them out.

Alright, I am pausing my social media break to share with you the final review of my PhD erra (times fly by 🥲).
Featuring 2 of my favorite science fields: #RNAbiology and #celladhesion 😍.
Also a fantastic collab with one of my top #women_in_sci role models: Stavroula Mili 💙
Someone in the news departments of @nature.com or @science.org needs to take a look at this--its a huge scandal from the scientific supplier that has become a monopoly

Earlier this week I posted an example of a fake western blot provided by ThermoFisher to demonstrate the validity of a p53 antibody. I considered it an amusing curiosity. In fact Thermo Fisher Scientific has systematically manipulated antibody validation data!

Paying peer reviewers works.
Expanded Fast & Fair experiment @biologyopen.bsky.social:
• 5.5 vs 37.7 working days to decision with reviews
• ~3 vs ~9 reviewer invitations per manuscript
• no reduction in editor-assessed review quality
• similar acceptance rates

Starting to write up the first mechanistic paper from my lab about regulation of endosomal PI(3)P. We see retromer tubules (Vps35) budding from PI(3)P positive sorting endosomes with Actin at the neck. When PI(3)P homeostasis is perturbed this organisation breaks down and cells cant recycle cargo.
In contrast to prevailing dogma, we report that procollagen 1 assembles into a liquid condensate within cells, resolving the long-standing problem of how c
