That’s where having the meteorologists have control would be crucial. For last night, the threat was much lower to the east, such that Milwaukee proper could’ve easily been excluded. But if this were an MCS with embedded rotation expected to reach the lake, you don’t exclude anyone. IMO.
I know of professors in two states - one Midwest, one Plains - who live a flight away from the rest of their families and travel back and forth frequently.

People do care about this too much and need to be kind - but with the technology we have these days, I’d like to think that we could limit the cut-ins to the directly affected areas and those just downstream rather than having to cut in for the whole DMA.
