Okay, now I've started - what my Burnham cabinet would broadly be (If I get 4+ right, I'm doing well!) Chancellor: Miliband Foreign: Mahmood Home: Streeting Chief Sec to the PM: Powell DESNZ: Haigh MCHLG: Nandy Justice: Cooper DWP: Rayner Defense: Jarvis/Healey (depends on DIP)

The criteria for chancellor are ideological alignment, intellectual heft and experiance. On this basis you have 2/3 candidates; Miliband, Cooper and (at a stretch) Haigh. Wes, to his credit, has clear economics and a economic vision. But 'progressive capitalism' doesnt fit with Manchesterism

This is all rather silly. The PM and Chancellor need to have shared overall objectives, otherwise it's not going to work. That matters more than whether "markets" have "confidence". They'll go along with whoever unless they do something Truss-level stupid www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
