Super cool that the grandfather I grew up in a house with, who wouldn't even talk about his time in France during WWII because of the horrors, fought for a country whose defense secretary is now IRL Hitlerposting from Normandy on the anniversary of D-Day.
On this 82nd Anniversary of #DDay, I’d like to remember the late Medgar Evers, he and other Black soldiers who were there. He served to protect the freedom & democracy that we have today, only to get murdered by a KKK sniper in Mississippi for wanting & fighting for equal & voting rights.
Once I got yelled at by the attorney who argued the case—Catherine Rorabach, the first woman to argue in front of SCOTUS—and even though I’ve had research cited by SCOTUS since, that remains my coolest repro story.
(She wasn’t yelling b/c of me; she was yelling about inaction on climate change 🫠)
