I wish people who aren't from DC would drop this messaging line that the National Guard are all standing around doing nothing playing on their phones weeding our flower beds. The National Guard presence is not benign and each Guard member is complicit at this point. 🧵

I get that DC news on some level will never care about obscure parts of Fairfax County, but last night’s storms out here were severe enough that it literally looks like tornado or hurricane damage in a couple areas, and it’s all over local social media, yet I see nothing except on FFXnow.

Waiting for Godot but it’s Statler and Waldorf as Vladimir and Estragon (This is not actually a good idea but it’s 100% my personal taste)

Betteridge’s Law of Headlines stays winning The piece is actually interesting, though, fwiw
I guess we as Americans are assumed to be too dumb to get it, which, fair

I have been listening to If Books Could Kill essentially since the beginning and I’m increasingly having a Gell-Mann amnesia thing, where every time they do an episode on a subject I know or care a lot about I start noticing sloppy mistakes or bad-faith readings of the text And yet I keep listening
