At the start of my PhD I unsuccessfully tried to figure out how to use those auto citation tools, I've always done them manually, and spent at least an hour today typing out footnotes

Babes, Syed, my 105k word manuscript went off to the reviewers earlier this year and I can guarantee you I typed in every single citation in there.
I think I have several hundred footnotes, but yes.
