The Minister for Sport has told us that sport and politics do not mix. But throughout history, we've seen that the opposite is true. The govt have backed the Irish football team and their management into a corner with their inaction and cowardice. There's an obvious solution: stop the game.

Sport should never be used to distract from human suffering. The Government must show leadership and support efforts to stop these fixtures going ahead. Government could set an international example and say no to sportswashing.
Sports has the power to unite communities, but it only works when grounded in respect. The govt have not treated the Irish public, nor the Irish national football team with respect. For Israel, this match is more than a game – it is a political tool. Sport is political: Stop the Game.
Despite being given every reason not to dismantle the Triple Lock, FF/FG are still ploughing ahead. Ireland is a militarily neutral country – we must not see our Defence Forces deployed at a government’s whim. The UN is flawed, but it is an essential safeguard. We can't cut it out of the picture.
High quality maternity care should never depend on what someone can afford. Continuity of care should be available to every woman, not just those who can pay for it. That should be the standard in our public health system.
Tomorrow, the Air Navigation & Transport (Amendment) Bill will come before the Seanad. It will allow for commercial flights through Irish airspace suspected of carrying munitions of war and soldiers to be grounded and inspected. We are a neutral country – we must not be complicit in brutal wars.

A 60-day swim ban has come into effect at two Dublin beaches - Rush North and Rush South. This is due to a pump failure at a wastewater station. The loss of these amenities for most of the summer - and the potential threat to marine life - is unacceptable. Uisce Éireann has questions to anwer.
The latest Child Poverty Monitor reveals there were more than 95,000 children – one in 12 – experiencing consistent poverty in 2025. These figures will be a stain on this Govt’s term in office unless meaningful measures are introduced to tackle income inequality.
This Bill seeks to uphold Irish neutrality, sovereignty and international law. Shannon Airport has been used as a transit hub to move munitions for decades now. @patriciastephenson.bsky.social
