A robust plan to ensure the public that environment wouldn’t be harmed is absent & it’s unclear if the international standard of free prior & informed consent by First Nations will even be met. ON has not provided the numbers to back up the hype.

With baseball season back, we’re continuing our series unpacking the claims behind Ontario’s Ring of Fire ads that flooded our screens during last year’s World Series run.

Here’s the next claim, pulled directly from the province’s Ring of Fire advertising: Developing the Ring of Fire will create 70,000 jobs.
In baseball, even close calls go under review. Given the lack of any clear basis for these claims, this one would likely be overturned.

ON’s entire mining workforce is ~150,000 people. This claim suggests one region, which currently does not have one operating mine, could generate nearly half that total. It’s a reckless, unsubstantiated claim & it has no clear basis in proven economic feasibility. It’s more hype.
To get anywhere near that number, the region would need to support roughly 40 operating mines. Right now, there isn’t even one. The Ring of Fire is in the exploration phase, with no active mines and no feasibility studies demonstrating proven mineral reserves.
